Moulage showcase

We asked our Pocket Centre Network to showcase their moulage work over the past year. Here are some of them.

Clinical Simulation Centre – Townsville

Karen Ingram shared some photos from a few trauma scenarios that the Townsville Hospital and Health Service – Clinical Simulation Centre ran during their Emergency Department training earlier this year.

The Prince Charles Hospital

Kim Gourlay and his team recently conducted a Resuscitative Hysterotomy Simulation, as part of Emergency Registrar Teaching. Several people contributed to the success of the simulation. This includes the Emergency Registrar Team who requested education around obstetric emergencies, the CSDS team who feminised a MegaCode Kelly, Dr Ben Symon who facilitated the day, and Dr Belinda Lowe of Gold Coast University Hospital who provided educational support, the simulation scenario, and created the moulage used during the scenario.

Queensland Childrens Hospital

Here are some photos of post-cardiac operation chest skin with chest drains, pacing wires, and sternotomy wound.

Bundaberg

Isabella Stokes, Associate Nurse Educator at Bundaberg Hospital collaborated with the Bundaberg Simulation Team for a high school engagement program. Six groups of seven high school students took part in trauma scenarios. This scenario was a crocodile attack where a left leg has been ripped off. They covered Basic Life Support and other skills throughout the day prior to the simulation. It was fun for the students and also allowed them to consolidate the skills they practised throughout the day.
