CSDS and THS-North new partnership

CSDS is pleased to share the news of our recent partnership with the Northern Tasmanian Health Service (THS-North). THS-North approached us with the aim of incorporating our Introduction to Peripheral Intravenous Cannulation (IPIC) course into Tasmania’s cannulation program.

Natalie Milne, the Clinical Nurse Educator for Peripheral Intravenous Catheters (PIVC) at THS-North, conducted a thorough review of the existing eLearning content and identified the need for an update. In her exploration of best practices across regions, she discovered the CSDS’s IPIC course which is already in use at THS-South.

Natalie reflects, “The quality of content delivered by the CSDS team was truly impressive. The structure of the course and the accessibility of tools and documents stood out to me. This partnership with CSDS is a huge positive and beneficial addition to my role which I am incredibly grateful for. Given that there are numerous eLearning courses available through CSDS I have been able to distribute this information to my education and training colleagues in THS-North for their use as well”.

Coming from a smaller state like Tasmania, where resources can be scarcer compared to larger health services like Queensland, Natalie acknowledges the value of this collaboration. Drawing on her previous experience as a Queensland Health employee, she recognises the difficulty in emulating a learning tool of similar quality to CSDS’s IPIC course.

Access to CSDS’s online learning allows Natalie to provide high-quality education and training without compromising her responsibilities. This ensures she can focus her time on vital tasks like running PIVC Insertion workshop simulations and providing clinical supervision.
