Spotlight on QTEC: Queensland Trauma Education course

Are you a healthcare professional looking to enhance your trauma care skills and network with colleagues from diverse settings across Queensland?

Queensland Trauma Education Course (QTEC) is a one-day interprofessional trauma workshop including procedural skills stations, small group discussion and immersive scenarios. It provides an exciting opportunity to network and generate discussion amongst care providers in different settings across the state and is facilitated by leading emergency and trauma clinicians. 

Key focus areas

QTEC focuses on the reception and management of patients with multiple injuries and covers the following concepts:

  • Prenotification and allocation of roles
  • Structured trauma assessment
  • Shared mental model and teamwork models
  • Use of splints/binders and tourniquet application
  • Chest decompression and intercostal catheter insertion
  • Ventilation strategies in trauma care

Approved for 8 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), QTEC not only enhances practical skills but also contributes to professional growth and certification requirements.
