On February 12th, we reached a significant milestone in advancing maternity education across Queensland with the official opening of our refurbished simulated birthing suite! This upgraded facility, alongside our new Water Immersion for Labour and Birth workshop, represents a crucial step forward for our Queensland Maternity Education (QME) program.
The newly renovated birthing suite, Scenario Room C, stands as a dynamic simulation space dedicated to Maternity Education. It’s designed to cover a wide array of topics, from water immersion techniques for labour to the effective management of maternity emergencies. Equipped with its state-of-the-art birthing bath, this space offers an immersive learning environment, especially beneficial for hands-on experience with water-based labour and delivery practices.
Our celebratory event commenced with presentations from CSDS Nursing Director Belinda Faulkner and QME Program Director Megan Barker that showcased QME’s commitment to improving maternity care across Queensland by offering accessible, evidence-based, and timely education for clinicians. Following the presentations, the highlight was the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by our Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Alanna Geary, symbolising the culmination of months of dedication and hard work.
This day marks a significant advancement in our mission to enhance Maternity Education and improve outcomes for birthing women and babies across Queensland.
We’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to welcome midwives and clinicians to CSDS as Scenario Room C continues its growth into a one-stop learning hub for Maternity Education with their course offerings:
